Kindergarten Round-up

First of all why is round up in February. I should not be thinking and feeling these emotions until August. As we have decided to send Sam to kindergarten the reality of how it will change my life next year is tumbling down on me. I have had an emotional 48 hours as I realize that he will not eat lunch with us next year, and where did the past five years go. I have been able to keep this all from him, so his excitement is off the charts.

I am also realizing that my wonderful son is growing up into a very happy and excited boy. He has enjoyed experiencing all the new conversations about kindergarten. What will I take to eat next year? Will we walk? 

Sam as always is doing much better at change (even though it is really not for six more months) than his emotional mother.

Saturday with the B's

We had a good Saturday.  Spent the morning at the Bruggers, where the girls (Amy and Amelia, 2) had a fun time painting.  Mostly the paper, but as you can see below, Amy ended up with a large amount of orange paint on her head...

We didn't see what happened, so still not sure if it was self-inflicted.  Baths followed. 

Then it was off to the park for some cold playing.  

Sam rode his bike along the Westmoreland Park Casting Pond.  He has been riding all week, and is really getting good.  We are very proud of him, and are excited for this summer!

The little things...

1. Sam is loving riding his bike with training wheels. (This is HUGE) We are so excited.

2. Amy is using the toilet 100% of the time except for sleeping and with very few accidents. (This is also very HUGE)

3. Every time Amy sees or turns on a light she calls it an ouchy light due to her turning on our light too early in the morning.

4. Sam is doing more and more art projects and they are so sweet.

5. I made two loaves of bread, a baby gift, and lounge pants for Sam in the last 24 hours. Wow that sounds like I live in 1950. 

6. Last weekend we had grandma stay for a couple of nights. One evening Amy got her stool, blanket and book just like grandma. Grandma called us in to see once she realized that Amy had set herself up to be just like GG.

7. We are doing well, happy and trying to stay healthy. 

Ridin' the Rails

We took the train to Eugene and back last weekend, and although it takes longer and costs more, it was exceedingly more relaxing and much more fun for all of us.  The kids had a great time, and it is definitely something I would do again.  While in Eugene, we visited Sarah's grandma's farm and then went to Splash! (an indoor water park with a cool wave pool).  Here are some pictures from the weekend (Splash! pictures not included yet).  Enjoy!

On the way there, we rode on the 2nd level of a "double-decker" train.  Great views, and very comfortable...

On the way home...OK, so maybe the scenery got a little boring for the kids, but there's nothing like Bob the Builder for a nice distraction (even on the little iPod screen). 

Of course, snacks and chocolate milk are a good distraction, too!

Part of our trip to the farm was driving around the fields, dropping off bales of hay for the cows to eat.  Sam got to kick the bales out of the back of the pickup truck.  Sarah drove, and Amy rode shotgun.  I just made sure nobody fell out.
